Doug Page

Worship Leader and Music Minister

Doug Page is a very accomplished musician, having not only played bass violin with the Cedar Rapids Symphony, but also playing with a number of bands.  He has worked a lot with Bluegrass groups, and is well known in such circles.

He has directed the Hus Church Choir for over 18 years.  During this time, the choir has become known throughout Cedar Rapids for its high quality, especially for a smaller sized congregation.  A number of the choir members also have participated in musicals in local theaters.  In several cases, the members have had the lead roles.

In the past four years, Doug's responsibilities at Hus Church have expanded to include the role of worship leader.  Working with the primary worship team, this has not only meant a more contemporary approach to worship at Hus Church, but also pariticipating in worship leadership for other Christian groups in the Cedar Rapids area.  Such venues have included Mission of Hope, a church emphasizing ministry to ex-offenders, and First Presbyterian Church's meals for the homeless program.

The basis for my ministry is rooted in my beliefs. I believe that:
V The Bible is the living, accurate, and inspired Word of God.
V Jesus lived a sinless life, was judged guilty for our sins past, present, and future, and that He died on the cross accepting the judgement of God for those sins.
V Just as Paul wrote in Romans 10:9-13: "For if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved. As the Scriptures tell us, "Anyone who believes in him will not be disappointed." Jew and Gentile are the same in this respect. They all have the same Lord, who generously gives his riches to all who ask for them. For "Anyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."

"Surely you know. Surely you have heard. The Lord is the God who lives forever, who created all the world. He does not become tired or need to rest. No one can understand how great his wisdom is. He gives strength to those who are tired and more power to those who are weak. Even children become tired and need to rest, and young people trip and fall. But the people who trust the Lord will become strong again. They will rise up as an eagle in the sky; they will run and not need to rest; they will walk and not become tired.

Isaiah 40:28-31
