Mel Ramos was born in California on August 16, 1952 to Daniel & Trudy Ramos. He was born at Hamilton Air force Base where his father served in the United States Air Force. Mel is the eldest of four children, Nathan Ramos, Diane Costas and Richard Ramos, all live in California.

Although Mel grew up in a Pastor's home, it was not till he was 17 years of age when he surrendered his life and committed to follow Jesus. Mel and his wife Jeri have been married for 23 years. Mel has three children, Tricia Harper, her husband Robert Harper, two grand daughters, Marianna 5, Aijah 4 live in the greater Phoenix area, Vincent 19, and Veronica 17, live at home with Mel and Jeri here in Marion Iowa.

Mel has served in many areas of ministry over the last 40 years. He is presently serving Hus Church as their part time Pastor and works at Linn mar High School as a Para Educator. Mel has served at Twin Oaks Church, an independent and interdenominational church in San Jose California. Mel served as the Senior Pastor of First Assembly Fellowship in San Jose for 8 years prior to merging with Twin Oaks Church. Mel and his wife Jeri, both graduated with honors and double Bachelor degrees from San Jose Christian College, now known as William Jessup University. Mel earned his BS in Bible and Theology, along with his BS in Pastoral Ministry, and a Minor in Urban Studies. Mel has served as Missions Pastor, Single & Seniors Pastor, Pastor of Small Groups, has provided oversight to Children's Ministry and has helped develop church planting strategies locally and globally.

Mel loves reaching out to people in need and showing them God's love in tangible and practical ways. This compassion spurred he and Jeri to found "First Step Community Services of Santa Clara Valley", a non-profit 501C(3) dedicated to helping those in need. This organization continues to serve those in need in the greater Santa Clara Valley today.

Mel's gifts, passion, experience and education have helped him discover his own unique ability of serving the Church by nurturing people to achieve their highest potential by asking them challenging questions that causes them to safely look inside themselves and discover what their true God given passions and purposes are. Mel loves the Church and has a deep burden to see the “Bride of Christ” become all Jesus intends it to be here in North America and the world.

Mel loves wood working projects, reading, water sports, camping and golf. He especially enjoys time with his wife and children doing all the above activities!
