Nursery Supervisor
and
Nursery Assistant

Reports to Pastor/Head of Staff

Accountable to Christ, Children, Parents, Personnel Committee and the Deacons of Hus Church.

Qualifications

Two years experience in providing child care in a church nursery or day care center setting is preferred.  Background check will be required.

Major Areas of Responsibility

1. Serving as an ambassador for Christ by creating a caring Christian environment in the child care areas where children and parents feel welcomed.
2. Providing a safe, sanitary and inviting environment in the child care areas following the Department of Human Services guidelines.
3. In coordination with the Deacons, establish rules for the children which will promote sharing, safety and appropriate behavior.
4. Providing child care on Sunday mornings.  Being present in time to greet parents and children as they arrive and staying until all children have returned to their parents.  Making a special effort to establish rapport with parents and children attending for the first time.
5. Finding a suitable replacement (from a list of congregation volunteers) in the event of illness or inability to be present with the assistance of the Deacons.
6. Being available for service during special programs such as Christmas services, etc.
7. Making sure the room(s) are left in a tidy and sanitary/clean condition with toys and other articles returned to their proper places.
8. Will make regular reports to supervisor.  Will meet with the Personnel Committee yearly.

Hours:           Sundays, 9 AM – Noon; if no children are present 9 AM – 10 AM.

Director of Youth Ministries

Reports to Pastor/Head of Staff

Accountable to Christ, Students, Parents, Personnel Committee and the Session of Hus Church

Purpose

To serve Hus Church by:

• Providing for the Spiritual formation of Middle and High School students.
• To expand the Kingdom of God in Cedar Rapids through the Hus youth as they are modeled, taught and challenged to reach out to their friends and classmates.
• Caring for the Middle and High School students through intentional relationships.
• Developing a team of student leaders and adult volunteers to serve in student ministry.

Qualifications

• Have a love for Jesus that compels faithful and accountable service in youth ministry.
• Affirm that the Bible is God’s Word and that it is authoritative in faith and practice.
• Have a passion for students and a desire for these students to have life changing/shaping experiences with God, one another and in the world.
• Exhibit a joy that comes from leading and encouraging both youth and adult leaders in a Christ-centered walk.
• Possess a strategic mind and a proven ability to work with a team of volunteers.
• Have the ability to develop a church based youth ministry that is truly spiritual – attractive, fun, inviting and also serious, worshipful, mission minded and truly a part of the church.
• Have the natural ability to attract, recruit, lead and equip student leaders and adult volunteers.
• Maintain a commitment to growing personally in your relationship with Jesus Christ, to deepening you knowledge of the Christian faith and to integrity in your personal life and relationships.
• A commitment to a ministry of prayer, especially for those in your ministry.
• The ability to manage your time as a part-time Youth Director accomplishing your ministry as you fulfill your career and vocational duties that supply your family needs.
• Background check required.

Major Areas of Responsibility

1. Be responsible to develop relationships with Middle and High school students and their parents/guardians at Hus Church with the goal of helping them to establish a vibrant personal relationship with Christ that thrives beyond their Confirmation experience by:
   1. Using building times (time spent with students outside of Hus Youth meetings) to invest in their world in order to get to know them and their friends for the purpose of building them up.
   2. Helping students to develop spiritual disciplines such as daily Bible reading, journaling, prayer (SOAP) and gaining boldness and confidence in sharing their faith with others.
   3. Meeting with students’ parents/guardians one on one and in groups to report progress of the ministry, recruit help and gain insights that they have to become partners in the lives of their students/children.
2. Be responsible to prove a weekly youth meeting that is attractive, informative and relevant to the Hus youth, their friends and classmates by:
   1. Planning, preparing, promoting and presenting a fast paced, fun packed, challenging time that offers Biblical truth and principles that students can relate to the issues that face them in their daily lives at school and at home.
   2. Using the Hus Youth Meetings, Leadership Training Sessions and Retreats to develop leadership skills in certain youth, establishing a Youth Leadership Team (YLT) that will foster their leadership abilities and help the Hus Youth ministry grow spiritually and numerically.
3. Being a Spiritual role model that uses your God given SHAPE – Spiritual gifts, Hearts passion, human Abilities, Personality and personal Experiences to reach out to youth at Hus Church and their friends and classmates to point them to Christ, disciple them in faith growth, engage them in authentic relationships to influence them as they navigate through their Middle and High school years.
